Welcome

I find inspiration in the plants and wildlife of the North Kent coast, and in recording the intricacies of the changing seasons in my back garden.

In my practice I collect and re-employ old book pages, stationery, maps and decorative papers, which are collaged as a background to the drawn line.

My work is informed by the rich history of British book illustration and engraving, including the work of Eric Ravillious, Edward Bawden and Samuel Palmer.

After completing a degree in Fine Art, I studied Printmaking and Illustration to postgraduate level at Central Saint Martins.

After my studies I began teaching Art and Design at a number of colleges, and worked as an Editioning Printmaker and Hand-Colourist at Paupers Press in London.

I started to work as a freelance Illustrator in 1997 (see list of publications).
I live and work in Whitstable, Kent, where I am the co-owner of the gallery and shop, Frank.

I print and teach at the Print Block in Whitstable.
